A Time For Stillness
and Action by Martha Grier

Now more than ever—when the pace of calamity not only seems to be increasing but is also hitting closer to home—it is a time for inner stillness.

Some of us understand this time to be the beginning of a journey of initiation when all that is familiar and comforting (even in its

dysfunction) needs to be destroyed and stripped away so that a new consciousness and way of being in the world can be birthed. In the next few years we will all find out what we are made of and what we stand for.

Going within—not panicking, nor getting caught up in the vitriol spewed by pundits—accomplishes many things. The most obvious is you manage your level of stress as you connect with the force that enlivens you. You may also find that you get some distance on detail, and are able to see the big picture of how all that's going on relates to your journey in this lifetime. Hopefully, if you are able to go into the deep quiet, you will know—not by the faculty of your mind, but by the understanding of your heart—that we are inextricably linked to one another. I am you; you are me, and we are all part of the divine matrix.

Going within and being still doesn't mean that you don't stay, or get, involved. It opens the space for you to get involved with a compassionate and forgiving heart. Making a difference in someone else's life—getting personally involved on an individual, community, national, or global level—provides tremendous healing for you and those you serve. The power of selfless service—the reverberation of which will be felt for generations—is a thousand times more powerful than any discordant act.
